CTN sponsored the Great Diocesan Read-Aloud in conjunction with Literacy Month the week of March 7 – 14. Each year the GDRA brings guest readers into class (virtually) to inspire students as they read their favorite children’s book. Live sessions are coordinated
by CTN according to readers and class availability. This year’s guests included Representative Nicole Malliotakis and Congresswoman Grace Meng as well as several children’s authors, and community members of the Diocese.

CTN has been sponsoring GDRA for the past three years. This project was created as a way to promote the love of reading and how technology connects us to our global community. This was especially important this year, as it was a great way to include all
students in a hybrid learning situation. The GDRA continues to grow yearly with improved technology. Students are to connect and be motivated by professionals and their love of reading.

March, which is traditionally Literacy Month, is an excellent opportunity to encourage reading. This year we offered Professional Development in ELA as well a month-long subscription to MyOn, a digital library with novels and daily news sources for Grades K-8.

Let us work together to make lifelong readers through the integration of technology and literacy.
